The U.S. almost swept all four medal events on Friday with gold medals in Day 8 of the 2012 London Olympics. Missy Franklin set off the finals by setting the World Record in the Women's 100m Freestyle. While Michael Phelps captured his 21st Olympic medal.
Phelps finished the Men's 100m Butterfly in 51.21, .23 seconds in front of South Africa's Chad le Chlos.
Katie Ledecky set the American Record with her first place finish in the 800m Freestyle after swimming 8:14.63.
The only event the Americans did not dominated in today's event was the 50m Freestyle. Florent Manaoduo of France finished in first place with a 21.34 finish.
