The NFL draft 2015 order is set in the top 10 and teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, NY Jets, Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears are on the clock, as names like Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Amari Cooper, Shaq Thompson, Vic Beasley, Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley all could be potential targets.
Mariota and Winston are considered to be the two top quarterbacks in the draft in the 2015 class and some expect the top teams to select them. Both the Buccaneers and the Titans have a need at QB and that is how some have mocked the first round to start. The Buccaneers reportedly are interested in Mariota, according to ESPN.com, but the team likely will use the offseason and combine period to thoroughly evaluate both players.
Mariota won the Heisman this season, while Winston won the trophy last year while leading Florida State to a national championship. Winston is playing against Mariota in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day and they may battle again as the two prepare for the draft. The Buccaneers and Titans each finished the season 2-14, but Tampa Bay won out the first pick due to strength of schedule. The team has Josh McCown and Mike Glennon, but it's very likely that they select a QB with the number one overall pick.
The Buccaneers lost to the Saints in Week 17 of the season to clinch the top draft pick and now they are the team on the clock for 2015. Mariota comes in after passing for 38 touchdowns and just two interceptions and he has barely turned over the ball in his career. The Buccaneers have holes at a ton of positions, so they could trade the pick if they feel Mariota is not a franchise guy, but he appears to be number one pick material.
The Titans pick second and while they had Jake Locker and Zach Mettenberger, many expect the team to look at Mariota or Winston in the draft. The Jaguars are set with Blake Bortles and they could be an option for Cooper along with the Raiders at four. Cooper had over 100 catches this season and set numerous records in the SEC and he looks like he will be a great success in the NFL.
The Raiders need weapons for Derek Carr and adding Cooper would be huge after how Carr developed in his rookie season. The team feels comfortable keeping him in place and as they hire a new head coach, Cooper likely will remain a target. The Giants also have a top 10 pick and it comes after they took Odell Beckham with pick 12 last draft. The team got a star with that pick and now Jerry Reese has the chance to continue building things for New York.
