So much for the Japanese being all about defense. They have eliminated the offensive-minded Egyptians and advanced to the Semifinals after cruising to a 3-0 victory on Saturday morning.
For the Japanese the action started early as they scored at the 14 minute mark. Kensuke Nagai put Japan on the board and gave them the only scored they would need in the game.
Bad news for Egypt came in the 41st minute when Saadeldin Saad received a red card, leaving Egypt short one player on the field.
Japan did not immediately take advantage of his removal but eventually, scored a goal amidst a flurry of shots on goal. They made one goal at the 78th minute and the five minutes later scored again to completely put the Egyptians away in the match. Maya Yoshida and Yuki Otsu gave the Japanese the cushion they needed for the win.
With the three goals, they outscored the amount of goals that they scored in all three qualifers combined.
Japan controlled the ball for a heavy portion of the match.
Now, Japan they will await for their next rival.
They will either face a talented Mexican squad or Senegal in the Men's Soccer Semifinals. Their matchup will come at 9:30 a.m. ET/2:30 p.m. GMT.
