The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys are playing live on the NFC playoffs schedule for the wild card round and the matchup from AT&T Stadium is on at 4:30 pm ET from FOX and streaming online as Tony Romo and Matthew Stafford matchup in the postseason for the NFL wild-card round game.
The Cowboys come in as the better team after winning the NFC East division with a 12-4 record and they are hosting this game after a strong season. The Lions lost to the Packers to finish the season as a wild card and that put the Packers into the playoffs as the division winner. If the Cowboys win they will play against the Packers in Lambeau for the first matchup of the teams in the playoffs since the famous Ice Bowl game.
The Cowboys come into the playoffs after a very strong season and they finished with a big win against the Washington Redskins and now have the Lions on the playoffs schedule. The team has the benefit of having this game at home and they come in ranked second in the league in rushing yards per game. The Cowboys had strong seasons from DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant and they will be the main targets for Tony Romo on Sunday night.
The Cowboys dropped 44 points on the Redskins to end the season and they went 4-2 against the NFC East and 8-4 overall against the NFC. The defense was much better than expected and the top matchup could be Murray against the Detroit Lions rush D. The Lions have one of the best fronts in the league and they will have Ndamukong Suh in the lineup after he was initially suspended following last week's game with the Packers. The Lions definitely need Suh to win this game, as the Cowboys averaged over 140 yards on the ground per game this season. Murray will need to do it again and Romo will be looking to get deep into the playoffs for the first time in his career.
The Cowboys won four straight games and six of seven to end the season and they have been one of the best offensive units in the league this year. Over the final four weeks the team scored over 40 points three times and had at least 38 points in all of those games. The Lions ended the season with a loss against the Green Bay Packers and they went 11-5 on the season and ended up 5-1 against their division.
The team could not win on the road against the Packers and now they will have to be on the road for the Dallas Cowboys matchup. The team comes in ranked first overall in rush defense this season and they were 12th in passing yards per game and those two areas are where the Lions need to be strong on Sunday. Matthew Stafford had another strong season, while Golden Tate stepped up and led while Calvin Johnson was out and now Megatron will be the main focus for the Cowboys.
