Aug 05, 2012 06:27 AM EDT

The Women's Soccer semifinals will arrive on Monday with Canada, USA, France and Japan as the protagonists. The action will begin with Japan versus France. Then the U.S. will face Canada. The winners of the matchups will have the chance to compete for the gold and silver medals in the Women's Soccer Finals.

Japan vs. France

Monday August 6th- 12 p.m. ET/5 p.m. GMT

Japan's soccer team is fresh off their victory against Brazil. Thanks to goals by Yuki Ogimi and Shinobu Ohno, Japan was able to classify to the semis with a 2-0 defeat of Brazil.

France defeated Group F's top ranked team 2-1 in a match that saw all offensive action in the first half. France was down 1-0 early, but with goals from Laura Georges and Wendie Renard, they overcame this brief and small deficit, advancing to the semifinals.

USA vs. Canada

Monday August 6th- 2:45 p.m. ET/7:45 GMT

In a less than likely outcome, Canada, a third place qualifier from Group F, upset Great Britain with a 2-0 shutout on Friday. Jonelle Filigno got the offense started early with a goal in the 12th minute. Christine Sinclair followed with a goal of her own in minute 26, giving Canada further cushion.

USA are the defending gold medalists, they made sure there was not upset in their match as they defeated New Zealand 2-0 to qualify for the semis.

Do not miss the action as the USA will try to repeat as gold medal winners and France, Japan and Canada will look to be the spoilers.

*The gold medal match will take place on Thursday, August 9th.
