The New York Knicks need a win. Plain and simple, the team is approaching a franchise-worst 12-game losing streak with little to no hope in sight that it might actually end. Injuries and poor play have been the story for New York since the season began and frustration is growing between the players and the fans. Monday night will certainly be a tough time to start winning as the Memphis Grizzlies prepare to play the Eastern Conference team with their 24-9 record.
The Knicks have issues according the board as they sit at 5-31 with most losses in the NBA. It is ugly in the Big Apple at the moment as New York has lost their last 21 off 22 games. Injuries are the biggest problem of the moment. Carmelo Anthony has knee issues. Amar'e Stoudemire has knee issues. Andrea Bargnani is on and off the court with calf problems. Iman Shumpert is inconsistent with a dislocated shoulder. JR Smith has a foot problem. The starting lineup for the Knicks leaves a lot to be desire as many of players admit they never saw a record like this coming.
The Knicks are struggling to score over the recent stretch of games. They are struggling to do everything really, but the team is only averaging 80.0 points on just 36.6 shooting percentage. Right now, Tim Hardaway Jr is leading the scoring effort, putting up 17 against the Milwaukee Bucks. The last time he faced Memphis, he put up 23 points off the bench.
The Grizzlies have hit a slight skid in their season. They are currently only leading the Southwest Division in the Western Conference by a small percentage of points while Dallas continues to climb in the ranks. They have dropped their last five of eight games altogether including three of their last four at home after winning 12 of their first 13. Injuries are an issue especially to star Zach Randolph who has a sore knee. He is currently averaging 19.3 points and 11.3 rebounds at home, but currently has no timetable for his return.
