Serena and Venus Wiliams repeated as the Women's Doubles gold medalists after defeating Andrea Hlavackov and Lucie Hradecka of Czech Republic in two sets 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday.
The Williams sisters were absolutely unstoppable this whole tournament and they proved again to be a fource to contend with, despite being in the latter end of their storied careers.
They finished the match with six aces compared to the Czech's only one. The Czechs had one more double fault than the Americans, 3-2. Another interesting number is the unforced errors. Venus and Serena had 12 unforced errors compared to Hlavackov and Hradecka's 11.
Serena and Venus never trailed in the first set. They jumped out to a 2-0 and remained with a two-game lead for most of the match.
In the last set they had to come back as the Czechs held the 1-0 lead in the set. Serena and Venus quickly tied it in the following set as they held serve. Both team's exchanged points until Serena and Venus won back-to-back games in the fifth and sixth games. With the two game lead in the set, the Williams sisters won the 8th and 10th games to claim the gold medal, leaving Czech Republic with the gold medallion.
For Serena, the victory gives her two gold medals in the 2012 Olympic Games as the tennis player captured gold in the Women's Singles Finals on Saturday. It is the third time Serena Williams and Venus Williams have won gold as a duo.
