Women's all-around gymnastics champion Gabby Douglas missed out on an individual medal in the uneven bars competition Monday and finished eighth overall.
Douglas was the last competitor to go, and she had her worst routine in four sessions scoring a 14.90.
Midway through her performance she turned the wrong way, forcing her to improvise, but her misstep, coupled with her low degree of difficulty landed he such a low score.
Douglas is scheduled to compete Tuesday in the finals for the beam. She had the second-best qualifying score for the beam.
Russia's Aliya Mustafina won the event. Mustafina's perfect performance scored 16.133 to remove He Kexin of China from the first spot at the North Greenwich Arena in the British capital.
Mustafina, the 2010 all-around world champion, came through a serious knee injury in 2011 to reach London 2012 and was a deserving gold medalist.
China's He earned silver and Great Britain's Beth Tweddle took bronze.
He took the stage first and laid down an early marker with a score of 15.933 before her compatriot Yao Jinnan notched 15.716 to pile pressure on Tweddle.
The 27-year-old Tweddle has four world titles and is the most decorated Great Britain gymnast in history.
She scored a 15.916 after a step back on landing cost her higher honors.
