Olympics 2012 Men's Volleyball Results: Russia Defeats Serbia, Remain in First Place

Russia continued to dominate in the Men's Volleyball tournament at the London 2012 Olympics as they defeated Serbia in three straight sets 25-15, 25-20, 25-17. 

Maxim Mikhalov lead the Russians to victory after collecting 13 spikes, 2 blocks and tallying 18 points. Taras Khtey was right behind Mikhalov with 7 spikes, 2 blocks and 10 points. 

Russia did not waste much time taking control of the game. In the first set, Serbia scored first, but Russia followed the score with a 4-0 run. The game remained close despite the quick start by Russia. 

With the game 12-9, Russia scored four unswared points, increasing their lead to seven points as they led 16-9.  The match closed with Russia going on a 9-6 run to claim the set. 

In the second set, Serbia seized the first two points. With the game tied at four, Russia went on a 11-4 run, creating a comfortable lead that Serbia never challenged.

Russia really took a lead in the third set, which they started on a 6-1 run. Serbia closed the gap getting two points behind Russia with the score 8-6. Russia could not be continued, however, going on a 7-1 run, building an 15-7 lead. By the tie Russia had 20 points, Serbia had just 11. Russia cruised in with the victory closing out the match on a Khtey spike.
