Olympic Men's Basketball Bracket 2012: Quarterfinal Matchups and Schedule for Wednesday

The Men's Basketball Olympic qualifiers are over and the teams and matchups that qualified for the quarterfinals are set. After Wednesday's action is over, there will only be four teams left in the semifinals. The action begins at 9 a.m. ET/2 p.m. GMT. 

Where is the schedule and bracket of the 2012 Men's Basketball Quarterfinals.

Russia vs. Lithuania 

Wednesday, August 6 - 9 a.m. ET/2 p.m. GMT

Russia finished the qualifiers with a record of 4-1 for first place in Group B. They defeated Great Britain 95-75 in the first game of the London Olympics. They then faced China 73-54. They faced Brazil and won by one point, 75-74. They then faced Spain and won 77-74. In their last game on Monday morning, Russia lost to Australia 80-82.

Lithuania, the last team to qualify from group A, finished with a 2-3 record. They lost their first match against Argentina 102-79. They defeated Nigeria 72-53. Then they lost to France 82-74. Lithuania had Team USA sweating as the lost by only five points in a close battle that ended 99-94 in favor of the U.S. Earlier on Monday, Lithuania defeated Tunisia 76-63.

France vs. Spain

Wednesday, August 6- 11:15 a.m. ET/4:15 p.m. GMT

Spain had the third best record in Group B with a 3-2 record. They beat China 97-81 in their first Olympic game. They beat Australian 82-70. They almost lost their game against Great Britain as they walked off the court with a 79-78 win. They lost against Russia and lost on Monday against Brazil. Spain is considered the only team that can give Team USA a challenge because of their height and talent. 

France indeed got Tony Parker after his eye injury. The point guard has been sporting paintball-like glasses. With his help they went finished with a 4-1 record. They lost their first matchup against Team USA 98-71. They defeated Argentina 71-64, won against Lithuania 82-74, escpated with a victory against Tunisia and beat Nigeria 79-73.

Brazil vs Argentina

Wednesday, August 8 3 p.m. ET/8 p.m. GMT

Brazil finished in second place behind Russia in Group B's standings with a 4-1 record. They won against Australia, China 98-59, Great Britain 67-62 and defeated Spain on Monday. Their only loss came against Russia.

Argentina was third in Group A after going 3-2. They beat Lithuania, Tunisia 92-69 and Nigeria 93-79. They lost against France and the United States.

United States vs. Australia

Wednesday, August 8 5:15 p.m. ET/ 10:15 p.m. GMT

Team USA finished their Olympics 2012 qualifying round with a perfect 5-0 record. Already mentioned above were their victories against France, Tunisia and Lithuania. They also defeated Tunisia 110-63. They crushed Nigeria 156-73. On Monday they defeated Argentina 128-97. 

Australia possessed a 3-2 record and had impressive victories throughout the Olympic qualifiers. They lost to Brazil 71-75 and Spain 70-82. They won three games in a row defeating China 81-61, Great Britain 106-75 and Russia 82-80.
