Manchester City is not content to stick with what they have as they march towards the top of the English Premier League table, as the team has bought Wilfried Bony from Swansea City on a deal worth about $40 million and that is a significant addition after dealing with injuries to Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic this season.
The news about Bony had been rumored about since last week and he comes over as the top scorer on Swansea this season. The report says the deal could be worth around $45 million and that he will likely join Man City after he finishes playing with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations. Manuel Pellegrini said that he was looking to add at the transfer window, as Man City was dealing with some injuries and needed a decent fourth striker up front.
Manchester City brought in Frank Lampard and now with Bony in the fold the team can challenge Chelsea at the top of the league standings. Pellegrini said that while the injuries played a part, the team also needed more depth on offense and he said that the team will be stronger with Bony in the fold. The deal is a record transfer for Swansea City and Bony comes into the week fifth overall in the EPL in goals scored.
Manchester City is second in the Premier League standings and they are just two points back of Chelsea after the results this week. The team has 45 goals this season, second behind Chelsea in the league and they have a clear lead over Southampton and Man United from second place.
