Chelsea Transfer News: Blues Close in on Moses and Azpilicueta; Oscar to Wear No 11 Shirt

Chelsea are closing in on the signings of Victor Moses from Wigan and Marseille's Cesar Azpilicueta.

Roberto Di Matteo and Roman Abramovich has already gone on a spending spree this summer, spending over £65 million ($101.5 million) for the likes of Eden Hazard, Thorgan Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin.

Now the Blues are close to bringing in two more players, with Marseille confirming a "serious" bid for Spanish international Azpilicueta had been made. Chelsea are short in the right-back department after the departure of Jose Bosingwa, and see the talented 23-year-old as the perfect choice.

The European champions have already reportedly seen a bid of around £5 million ($7.8 million) turned down by Marseille, who rate their player at the £8 million ($12.5 million) mark.

It now seems Di Matteo has gone on and put in a new bid for Azpilicueta with Marseille president Vincent LaBrune acknowledging Chelsea's interest. "Chelsea have made a serious approach for Cesar," LaBrune is quoted as saying in The Sun.

The Blues are also close to ending the Victor Moses transfer saga, with Wigan chairman Dave Whelan revealing he had told the Chelsea board the exact amount that would take to send Moses to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already seen multiple bids for the 21-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his contract, turned down by the English Premier League club, but could be set to seal a deal finally, with Whelan reportedly coming down from his £10 million ($15.6 million) asking price.

It is understood Wigan are now ready to accept a bid in the region of £8.5-9 million ($13.2-14 million).

"I have spoken to Chelsea's chief executive and they are easy to deal with," Whelan told ESPN. "We have told them the price and they will come back and agree it or not.

"We would much prefer the player to sign a new contract and stay but he wants to go to Chelsea and it's a good club so we cannot stand in his way."

Chelsea are expected to compete the signing of Moses before the Community Shield match against Manchester City on Sunday.

Chelsea's new signing Oscar will wear the No 11 shirt, previously worn by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who left the club after last season for Shanghai Shenhua, the club confirmed.

Oscar will join the club once his campaign with Brazil at the London Olympics is over.

Meanwhile, Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu returned to the club's training ground in Cobham on Tuesday. Romeu was a part of Spain's ill-fated Olympic squad, while Mata, last year's club player of the year, comes back after winning the Euro 2012 with Spain and taking part in the Olympics.
