The U.S. Women's Basketball Team are one step closer to gold after defeating Canada 91-48 in the quarterfinals at the 2012 London Olympics. Diana Taurasi led the team with a 15 point performance.

They seem to be emulating the 1992 Dream Team better than the 2012 Men's Basketball Team.

Throughout the Olympics, the U.S. Women's team have overwhelmed their opponents and on Monday morning this was just the case.

Team USA was so dominant in this game that they did not allow Canada to score over 20 points in a quarter. Canada scored 8 in the first, 13 in the second, 10 in the third and 17 in the fourth quarter.

You can blame their 31 percent shooting from the floor, their 5-18 shooting from three or the 26 turnovers they had in the game.

For the U.S., it was the complete opposite. They shot 51 percent from two-point range, while only turning the ball over 10 times and picking up 15 steals.

By the end of the first quarter, the U.S. Women had a double-digit lead. By the end of the second they were up by 20.

There was simply no hope for Canada in this game as the U.S. started out on a 19-4 run in the first seven minutes of action. As the second quarter was closing out, with the score 34-17, the U.S. then went on an 8-0 runto take a 25-point as the scoreboard read 42-17 with 43 seconds left to play.

Along with Taurasi's performance, Sylvia Fowles and Candance Parker had 12 points each. Parker also grabbed seven rebounds in the game.

The U.S. will now wait for an opponent as China and Australia are in the middle of their ball game.
