Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was admitted to the hospital on Thursday with a urinary tract infection, but he is in stable condition and should be out of the hospital on Friday, according to a family spokesman.

UPDATE: The UK Mirror reports Muhammad Ali is in the hospital after previously being found unresponsive at his home and he is recovering after dealing with a urinary tract infection. "Muhammad Ali was released from an undisclosed hospital Friday, Ali family spokesman Bob Gunnell said."

Ali has dealt with various medical issues in recent years, including a bout with pneumonia late last year and this time he dealt with a "severe urinary tract infection". According to the NY Daily News, Ali was in the hospital for just over two weeks in December and January while dealing with the infection and that came after he was hospitalized with pneumonia.

Ali also suffers from Parkinson's disease and the report says when he is out of the hospital, he is expected to celebrate his 73rd birthday with his family this weekend. Ali is expected to be released on Friday and Gunnell said that he plans on watching his Louisville Cardinals take on Duke this weekend in college basketball.

"He's awake and he's in great spirits," the spokesman, Bob Gunnell said in a phone interview on Thursday per the Daily News. "He's doing very well, spending his time listening to music and watching old movies and talking to the people who are visiting him. He's doing well."

In December Ali was hospitalized with a mild case of pneumonia and fortunately for the boxer, it was caught early and was able to be treated. Ali has not appeared in public as in past years due to medical issues, although he appeared at an event in September at a ceremony for the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards in Louisville. Ali retired from boxing decades ago and has championed numerous social causes around the world.
