The Atlanta Hawks once again shocked the NBA by beating another top team in the league. Most the team's domination has been on the road as they traveled North of the boarder and beat the Toronto Raptors and remained in first place in the Eastern Conference. Now the Hawks will test that road success once again as they travel to face the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.
Atlanta has won 11 games straight and hoping to break a franchise record of 14. That will be a challenge facing the improving Bulls, but the Hawks continue to prove they are a team to reckon with in the league. Atlanta has won 25 of their last 27 games since the end of November while half of those were on the road and several were teams with records above .500. The Hawks currently have the best record in the league against teams above .500 and hope to keep the momentum high.
Atlanta has not lost to a team with a winning record since before Thanksgiving. Head coach Mike Budenholzer credits team chemistry and attitude to much of their success this year. But then there is the road success. In January, seven of their nine wins have come on the road including the 110-89 win over the Raptors.
Al Horford played a big role in Friday's win, sinking all eight of his field goal attempts while the team shot 60.9 percent overall. Jeff Teague continues to lead the way with 25 assists and two turnovers in his past three games. The Hawks stress they are not getting over confident and are simply focusing on one game at a time.
Their next task if the Chicago Bulls, a team they beat once back in December as Horford put up 21 points. The Bulls are coming off a win against the Boston Celtics where they shot 53.9 percent while Derrick Rose had 29 points and 10 assists. In his past three games, Rose is putting up a 56.1 shooting percentage leading the Bulls. Joakim Noah will be out this game as he nurses an ankle sprain.
