The Women's Long Jump Final will take place this afternoon at 3:05 p.m. ET and will feature American Janay DeLoach compete for Olympic gold.
On Tuesday, DeLoach sailed a 6.81 meters in her first jump, second best to Shara Proctor's 6.83 meters of Great Britain.
With her being only one of four athletes to pass the qualifying mark of 6.7 meters, DeLoach only had to record one jump before having been moved to today's finals, thus conserving energy.
The 26-year-old's longest jump was 7.03 meters that came earlier this year.
With her being able to conserve energy she is now in prime position to possibly bring home a gold medal for the United States.
