Great Britain's Nicola Adams captured gold after defeating China's Can Can Ren in four rounds at the Women's Fly (51kg) Finals.

She took the first round 4-2. Came back with a knockout taking the second round 5-2. The knockdown came after a flurry of punches the Chinese could not handle. Adams then took the third round, winning it 5-1 and tied in the fourth and last round 2-2. It totaled to a 16-7 win.

It is a great story for Adams. She wins gold after suffering a career-threatening injury on her back as she fell down a flight of stairs in her home. The injury kept her out of competition for a year, but she stepped back on to the ring the following year.

In the Women's Light (60 KG) Katie Taylor had the crowd backing her up throughout the match with their "Ole" cheers. She won the match 10-8, barely getting by the Russian Sofya Ochigava in the four rounds.

After being named the winner, Taylor dropped to her knees and could not stop thanking the fans.

Clarissa Shields of the USA faced Nadezda Torlopova of Russia.

In the first round both players tied 3-3. Shields had great right and left jabs but Torlopova caught her with some mean hooks.

Shields landed good body shots in the second round with viscious combinations to the body and the head of the Russian. There was a small break as the american's shoe laces became undone, but she came right back firing jabs and hooks. The Russian had no defense for Shield's speed.

Sheilds showed off her defense as well, dodging the Russian's blows cleanly. She defeated the Russian 19-12 becoming the second youngest women's gold at 17 years of age.
