The New York Knicks are 3-7 in their last 10 games which is a huge improvement after their 16-game losing streak. However, things are not totally looking up for the franchise just yet. The team was on a three-game win streak before losing to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, but they are hoping to pick things back up which will not be easy considering they have the Oklahoma City Thunder coming to town.
When these two teams first played each other, Kevin Durant was still healing from a broken foot. The Thunder still cruised to a 105-78 win. However, when the Thunder see the Knicks again, they will still be without Durant who is currently nursing a sprain in his big toe that also kept him out of Monday's win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Thunder went 3-12 in their first 15 games without Durant as he currently averages 25.6 points per game. However, Russell Westbrook is putting up 24.7 points per game which should help against the struggling Knicks.
The Knicks continue to struggle even when they are wining. Tim Hardaway Jr led the way against Charlotte with 25 points, but the Knicks still put up their lowest scoring total since scoring just 63 points against the Golden State Warriors in 2013. The Knicks are relying on no-name players for help. Langston Galloway just inked a contract for the remainder of the season after standing out with 14.5 points per game in his last four starts. Lou Amundson and Lance Thomas are hoping to have the same luck after players like JR Smith, Iman Shumpert and Samuel Dalembert were sent away leaving the Knicks short-handed.
New York has dropped 12 of their last 15 games against the Thunder, but three days of rest might help them at least put on a small show. Anthony has been averaging 29.5 points against the Thunder while Westbrook is putting up 27.7 points on 54.2 percent shooting in the past three games against the Knicks.
