New York Knicks' fans have likely forgotten Amar'e Stoudemire was even on the team. The power forward has been sitting on the bench with wrist, knee and ankle injuries while missing the last 15 of 20 games. Stoudemire's tenure with the Knicks has certainly been an interesting since signing that monster free agency deal while carrying the highest salary on the team at $23.4 million. However, Stoudemire might not be seen anytime soon or ever again in New York as the forward's injuries could force his release.

The Knicks continue to try and be patient with Stoudemire, but that is likely wearing thin. According to the New York Daily News, it is assumed that the Knicks will try and end their relationship with Stoudemire if no trade happens before the deadline since the forward cannot seem to get on the court. Head coach Derek Fisher tried to downplay the issue.

"I think that he actually was willing to sacrifice how he might feel for the betterment of the team because of all the other injuries that we had sustained prior to that time during the season," Fisher said, via NYDailyNews.com. "Had we had some other guys that have been healthier, then we probably would've been able to find a better balance for Amar'e, but our team was struggling and he wanted to be a part of turning this thing around."

Stoudemire is replaceable at this point. The Knicks have been playing without the forward for so long, that he is simply not needed. The Knicks are getting production from players like Lance Thomas and Lou Amundson which will force the release of Stoudemire. Andrea Bargnani could follow as well.

Stoudemire is not the only change likely taking place for the Knicks. As New York continues to rebuild, trades will be plentiful if Phil Jackson can strike deals. Jose Calderon and Pablo Prigioni are likely the next deals to be made as teams like the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Bobcats need upgrades at the point guard position. The Miami Heat could be looking for help if Norris Cole is moved. The Knicks have options for deals at the deadline.

At this point, Carmelo Anthony will be back next year. Backup point guard Langston Galloway could return. Tim Hardaway Jr is reportedly favored as the future for the team. Everyone else is simply on notice. The Knicks understand a miracle would need to take place to make the playoffs, so clearing tax commitments is the priority.
