Brazil won the gold medal in the Women's Indoor Volleyball tournament at the London 2012 Olympic games. The U.S. took the silver after losing 25-11, 17-25, 20-25, 17-25.
Brazil's Jaqueline Carvalho led the team with 18 points, which all came on spikes. Sheilla Castro also had 15 points off of 15 spikes as well as Fernanda Rodrigues who had 12 spikes. Fabia Claudino finished with 7 blocks and 7 spikes good for 14 points.
The game had it's close moments, but the Brazilians proved too tough for the Americans.
USA took the first lead after they won the first set 1-0. They jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first seven games. They increased their lead taking a 13-5 lead later in the game as they continued to attack anything Brazil threw at them.
Brazil got stuck at seven points as they watched the U.S. go on a 5-0 run to take the 19-7 lead. They finished the match on a 6-4 run and that was their last victory.
The Brazilians breezed by in the next three sets, especially when winning the last one 25-17.
Rodriguez had the final say with a spike that was mishandled by Logan Tom to give Brazil the victory.
