NFL Preseason Schedule: Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck Makes Debut

Aug 11, 2012 08:30 PM EDT

The Indianapolis Colts and their fans will get a taste of Andrew Luck's capabilities in the professional football level. On Sunday, he will take the field with the Colts in their first preseason game where they will face the St. Louis Rams.

Luck went No. 1 overall in the NFL 2012 Draft. The Colts loved him so much they released their franchise quarterback, Peyton Manning as the player bid goodbye in a teary press conference.

For Luck, it will be a chance to back up all the hype he received before getting draft. The player from Stanford is believed to be ready to play at the NFL level.

His receiving core will be led by Reggie Wayne and Austin Colie.

Wayne was rumored to be moving along with Peyton Manning since Manning has been his only wide receiver. The 12-year veteran broke through in 2001 with the Colts and had his best touchdown season in 2004 when he caught 12. Last season he had only four touchdowns and 960 yards catching. The yards totaled were his lowest since 2003.

Colie is a four-year veteran who only caught one TD last season after catching a combined 15 in his past two seasons with Manning.

The Colts still have talent in their team and it will be fun watching Luck mature in his first professional season.

The action starts at 1:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT.

Luck could take some notes on St. Louis' Sam Bradford, who has taken the league by storm in his first two seasons. Nothing like Cam Newton, but still a pretty good quarterback in a pretty bad team.

The Rams and Colts were both 2-14 last season.
