---FINAL SCORE--- ITALY 3-1 BULGARIA
The men's volleyball bronze medal match will feature Bulgaria against Italy Sunday at 4:30 a.m. ET.
Bulgaria failed to overcome Russia in the semifinals of the 2012 London Olympics volleyball tournament.
They lost to Russia 1:3, 21:25, 15:25, 25:23, 23:25 in the individual games, and did try to reverse the match after winning the third game, having fallen behind by two games.
Nonetheless Bulgaria's national team scored their best Olympic achievement since the 1980 Moscow Olympics when they won the silver medals.
Italy will compete for the bronze after coming off a loss to Brazil.
It was a tight first set with both teams going toe-to-toe before Brazil stepped it up in the second.
Italy briefly threatened to come back into the match in the third, but Brazil kept their composure on the big points to close it out comfortably.
Italy, who were a surprise package in the last four after beating defending champions the United States in the quarters.
"Against Bulgaria we will have to play perfect volleyball because they are playing perfect matches and they did very well against Russia," Italy captain Cristian Savani said.
