NY Giants Mock Draft: Amari Cooper, Landon Collins, Brandon Scherff, Brett Hundley, Todd Gurley Options For Jerry Reese Picks?

The NY Giants have a top 10 pick in the NFL draft this year and mock drafts have already started to come out for 2015 and some names that have been linked to New York include Landon Collins, Amari Cooper, Brandon Scherff, Shaq Thompson, Brett Hundley, Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, DeVante Parker and Kevin White as potential picks in the draft.

The Giants are set up well in the draft, as they have all of their picks along with an extra seventh round pick after trading Brandon McManus to the Denver Broncos. Last season the Giants had a bounce back draft after some bad picks and bad luck the past few seasons, as they picked Odell Beckham, Andre Williams and Devon Kennard, all players that contributed to the team. Justin Pugh has been solid after being a first round pick and now Reese has the chance for another strong draft.

The draft pool is deep this year and the Giants have a top 10 pick for the first time in many years. Todd McShay at ESPN.com writes that the team could pick Brandon Scherff, a senior lineman from Iowa. The team had some issues on the offensive line last season and adding him could move Pugh to a more comfortable spot on the line. Big Blue View at SB Nation rounded up some mock picks and along with Scherff, they have the team looking at Amari Cooper if he is available, along with Landon Collins as well as Shaq Thompson.

Cooper is a target for the Giants if he makes it out of the top five, as he is a strong prospect from Alabama and has the potential to be a star. While the team just ppicked Odell Beckham, they have Victor Cruz coming back from serous surgery and he may never be the same. Cooper would join Rueben Randle and Beckham in one of the best WR groups in the league if he is drafted. Todd McShay at ESPN put out a mock draft and he sees the Giants adding Scherff, as they have to get more continuity and get younger on the line. The team picked Pugh two drafts ago and added Weston Richburg last year.

Scherff is an interesting option and while he is not the "sexy pick" like Odell Beckham was, he could be a perfect fit for the team. Scherff could fit in with Jerry Reese's "best available" mantra, as he is considered to be one of the top linemen in the draft. If Cooper slips to number nine, he likely will be the pick, as he is a potential target for the Raiders at number four. The Giants also may look at players like Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley and Brett Hundley in the later rounds.

The Giants went just 6-10 last season and finished with a losing record for the second straight year and now the front office is looking for some major improvements. The Giants had numerous issues last season, including injuries, chemistry with over 20 new players coming in as well as a tough schedule. The team will have no excuses to stand on in 2015, as all teams deal with injuries and they have a much easier schedule compared to 2014.
