The Cleveland Cavaliers may look at some trade support at the NBA trading deadline and names like Norris Cole, Mo Williams, Jeremy Lin, Jose Calderon, Reggie Jackson, Lance Stephenson, Tyler Ennis or Gerald Green could be options, as the team wants some offensive depth behind Kyrie Irving and on the wing as the Cavs try to make a title run with LeBron James and Kevin Love.
The Cavaliers have been rolling lately and now they are on top with the Bulls in the central division after winning 12 games in a row. The Cavs were one game under .500 when this streak started and now they are starting to take the form of the team everyone thought they could be. Adding Timofey Mozgov has been huge for the defense and while Kevin Love has struggled as if late, it hasn't hurt the team and he is still averaging double digit rebounds.
The additions of JR Smith and Iman Shumpert have added depth to the roster and James has been able to get everyone to play with more chemistry. Cleveland.com reports that the Cavs are looking to add more in trade deals at the deadline, as they prefer adding a backup point guard for Kyrie Irving for the second half of the season. The team realizes that the time is now to strike, as the NBA title chase is wide open in the east and they could be going "all-in" for this season.
The Cavaliers may look at Norris Cole as a trade option, as he has been getting shopped by the Miami Heat with Mario Chalmers and Shabazz Napier getting more time in the rotation. Cole could be an interesting option for the Cavaliers, as he has played with James in the past during his time in Miami and has received praise from James during that time for his defense and grit. Cole could be a perfect complement to come in for Irving and he has also been a target for the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons are looking at Cole after losing Brandon Jennings to an ACL injury and some other names that could be targets include Mo Williams, Jeremy Lin, Jose Calderon, Lance Stephenson, Tyler Ennis and Gerald Green. Stephenson has been getting shopped by the Hornets all season, while Williams has been targeted by the Miami Heat and Clippers along with the Cavs. According to the Sporting News, Jeremy Lin is a player the Lakers would like to trade, but so far the market has been "weak" for him.
The report from the Sporting News' Sean Deveney writes that Lin could be a "good backup point guard" and that could be a perfect fit for the Cavs. The Cavaliers may not be able to fit Lin since he is worth $8.4 million against the cap, but he is on an expiring deal and there is a chance they could make the move. Calderon has been getting shopped by the Knicks, but money is also an issue there, as he has two years and over $10 million left on his deal and that means he likely will not be going to the Cavs either.
