The Los Angeles Lakers have probably made the biggest splash this current off-season. With the acquisition of Steve Nash, Antawn Jamison and the recent trade for center Dwight Howard, the Lakers seemed to have all the cards in their favor.
Though they have an All-Star like starting five, they continued to be in desperate need of a bench, especially at the shooting-guard position.
Well looks like that problem was solved just recently.
It was reported a week ago that Lakers GM Mitch Kuphak wasn't expecting to sign a player who the team couldn't use the mini mid-level exception of roughly $3 million per season.
The Los Angeles Times reported over the weekend that the Lakers have signed reserve wing Jodie Meeks on a two-year, $3 million deal.
Though the move hardly warrants the same headlines as the big names of Nash and Howard, Meeks' arrival gives the Lakers a solid option in relieving Kobe Bryant's minutes and bolstering the team's outside shooting.
Meeks has played three seasons in the NBA and he is an average 37 percent three-point shooter from the three-point arc and 88 percent from the free-throw line.
The Lakers had options in Kenyon Martin and Leandro Barbosa before they reached an agreement with Meeks, as all three were in consideration for a Lakers contract.
