The Dallas Cowboys open their 2012 NFL preseason schedule with a road trip against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football on ESPN at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Dallas Cowboys are looking to rebound from a third place finish in the NFC East and an 8-8 record. The Cowboys are historically considered to be "America's Team" although they haven't won anything since Troy Aikman or Emmitt Smith were hanging around town.
Tony Romo had the best statistical season of his career in 2011, but there were too many deficiencies hindering Dallas at the end of the season.
In tonight's game Romo will be without at least one, if not both, of his starting wide receivers on Monday night, as Dez Bryant is questionable to play, and Miles Austin is out for Dallas' preseason opener.
Bryant, who suffered a mild hamstring strain, is considered a game-time decision. Bryant participated with the starters during Saturday's walkthrough practice and considered himself "fine," but Jason Garrett and the Cowboys might decide to err on the side of caution with their explosive wide receiver.
Carson Palmer will lead the Raiders again this season, as they also are looking to rebound from a season in 2011-12 that saw them finish with an 8-8 record overall. The Raiders failed to qualify for the playoffs.
In tonight's game, expect the starters to play a couple of series. Historically big time players don't play a lot in the NFL Preseason but we've seen a lot of star power in the first week of the season so far.
