Arsenal midfielder Alex Song admitted interest from Barcelona, but reaffirmed his desire to stay with the Gunners, while Belgian international striker Kevin Mirallas revealed talks had taken place over a move to the Emirates.
The Robin Van Persie saga seems to rumble on, with several English publications suggesting Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had personally reached out to Arsene Wenger to convince the Arsenal manager to sell their striker to United.
According to the reports, United are ready to offer £20 million ($31.3 million), plus add-ons, with Arsenal reportedly ready to discuss the possibility.
Song, however, has pledged his future to Arsenal, saying he is happy at North London, despite interest from Barcelona and the efforts from the likes of Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique to entice him to the Nou Camp.
"I am not going to lie if I said there is no interest, but I am at Arsenal and I am happy at Arsenal," the Cameroon midfielder told Sky Sports.
"Barcelona are the best team in the world, and speculation will always continue until the window closes."
Wenger also insisted there had been no official bid and, even if there was, Arsenal would not even consider selling the 24-year-old, who still has three years remaining on his contract.
"There's nothing going on with Song," the Frenchman is quoted in The Sun as saying. "There's nothing in that. Song has three years contract he's not in the same situation as Robin Van Persie.
"In Spain, the newspapers are not really serious. We've had the experience of that. We've never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona."
However, Malaga goalkeeper and international teammate Carlos Kameni has claimed Song would indeed be interested in a move. "We were together on vacation," Kameni told Cope Catalunya. "He would like to go to Barcelona, any player would like to.
"Barcelona are not one of the best in the world, but the best.
"(Song would) fit in at Barcelona. He has all the features to play there. We all know what kind of player Barcelona like and he is one of them."
Barca are looking at a replacement for Seydou Keita, who moved to China, and Kameni believes Song can provide the drive in midfield, which had been earlier provide by Yaya Toure, before his move to Manchester City.
"He is like Yaya Toure, but with much more mobility," Kameni added. "He is very mobile but can also pass well.
"He is a complete player. Alex has demonstrated how good he is during his time with Arsenal. He has always progressed well, but his last two years have been spectacular.
"He is a very focused kid, with his head in the right place. He always wants to improve and is willing to listen to others and work on his weaknesses.
"He is a hard worker and is very versatile, which makes him a very good team player."
Meanwhile, Mirallas, seen as one of the options to replace Van Persie, has revealed talks had taken place between his agent and representatives of Arsenal.
The 24-year-old has been in sensational form for Olympiakos, since joining them two years ago, but reportedly has a buy-out clause of €8.25 million (£6.4 million, $10 million).
Asked if he had spoken to Arsenal, Mirallas told Sky Sports News his representative had. "My manager (has). Me? No.
On the chances of the signing going through, Mirallas was quietly optimistic. "Yes, it's good," the Belgian international said. "Thomas (Vermaelen) plays very good at Arsenal and now a lot of Belgian players are in the Premier League.
"(Moving to England) it's good for me, it's good for my family and it's a good opportunity, but I don't know...it's possible."
Nicklas Bendtner has reiterated his desire to leave Arsenal before the start of the season. "Arsenal is not an option and that is something both the club and I agree on," Bendtner told sporten.dk.
"I expect to have found a solution to my situation before the window closes. There are concrete negotiations in the works."
"I have (turned down offers) and there are a lot of different reasons for that.
"I have three demands and I won't sign a deal with a club who aren't prepared to fill those demands."
