Cleveland Browns Rumors: Byron Maxwell, Randall Cobb, Mark Ingram, CJ Spiller Free Agent Options After Johnny Manziel, Josh Gordon Drama?

Feb 11, 2015 06:16 PM EST

The Cleveland Browns have a ton of money to spend this offseason in free agency and after all that happened with Johnny Manziel and Josh Gordon, the team wants some positive news and that could make Jeremy Maclin, Ndamukong Suh, Byron Maxwell, Randall Cobb, Mark Ingram, Julius Thomas, Darrelle Revis, CJ Spiller, Cecil Shorts or Jermaine Gresham potential free agent options.

The Browns ended the season on a five game losing streak and now they are looking to add some major talent into 2015. Pro Football Talk reports that the team is projected to have over $40 million in cap space and they could look at players on both sides of the ball. The team had two first round picks last season and both struggled in Johnny Manziel and Justin Gilbert and that could lead the Browns to adding at those positions.

Brian Hoyer may return as a free agent, while Byron Maxwell and Darrelle Revis could be potential targets in the secondary to join Joe Haden. The Browns likely will go after one of the free agent receivers, as the class is deep with players like Cobb and Maclin at the top. The Browns are a potential target for Suh as well, as they are one of a few teams in the league that actually can offer him what he is looking for. The team also may look at the running backs on the market after ditching Ben Tate during the season.

Randall Cobb is hitting the market for the Packers and while NFL.com reports that Cobb "prefers" to stay in Green Bay, there is a chance that he could price out if he looks for a big contract. Cobb had 91 catches for 1287 yards and 12 touchdowns last season while playing with Aaron Rodgers. Gordon was suspended for 10 games last season to start the year and he only played in five games before getting suspended by the team for Week 17.

Gordon is now facing another suspension and he will be out for the 2015 season for Cleveland. Maclin is a strong option on the market, as he could leave Philadelphia after having a bounce back season after missing 2013 with an injury. Maclin set career highs last year with 85 receptions and 1318 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Eagles and he could be a potential target, as the Newark Star-Ledger reports the two sides have "hit a wall" in contract talks.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported on Gilbert and his struggles and sources said that he was seen as a "a nuisance (rather) than an asset" this season and that could make the Browns 2014 first round a disaster. According to ESPN.com, Darrelle Revis is likely not an option for the Browns, as the Patriots may keep him with their team option. Even if Revis becomes a free agent, many expect him to sign with just three teams: the Jets, Bills or Patriots. Revis wants to return to the Patriots and it could be conceivable that he signs back with the Jets, or rejoins his old coach in Buffalo with Rex Ryan. If the Browns are serious about DBs, both Maxwell and Thurmond could be potential options to add.
