The Los Angeles Lakers have made splash this off season with the improvements they've made to their roster. The acquisition of Steve Nash, Antawn Jamison and Dwight Howard has caused many players, both past and current, and NBA executives to weigh in their opinion on the deal and its impact.
Former Lakers coach and current Miami Heat president Pat Riley talked about the deal with SunSentinel.com's Ira Winderman about it:
"Howard is a little more athletic than (Andrew) Bynum. They definitely have improved their team . . . It's not an easy job for any team in the West. And it's not going to be an easy job for us here in the East."
At the Harold Pump Foundation Gala, Lakers Nation's Serena Winters was able to capture some comments from NBA legends and celebrities about the trade.
Julius Erving (Dr. J) addressed the new Lakers center by saying:
"He's the best center in the game."
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBAs all-time leading scorer, also spoke very highly of the big man:
"When you have somebody that's totally committed like Dwight Howard, it's better for the team."
"It's going to be enjoyable and the fans should like what they see."
Jalen Rose, most known for being a member of the "Fab Five" said:
"Over the next two years, it will be a disappointment to all Lakers fans if they don't win at least one championship."
"They got a lot of stars, but only one superstar, Kobe Bryant."
