The Miami Heat could end up as an active team at the trade deadline this season, as Goran Dragic, Reggie Jackson and Brook Lopez are trade targets and if the team pulls off a deal, they could look at trading either Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers or Shabazz Napier, as they would like to upgrade at the point guard position and this comes as both Jackson and Dragic will be available this summer.
According to the Miami Herald, Dragic and Jackson are targets for the Miami Heat at the trade deadline, as they are looking to add some offense and wouldn't mind upgrading at point guard. The Herald writes that Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier have not been as good as the team expected and they could look at moving one of those names if they pull off a deal. Cole has been shopped this season and teams like the Pistons and Cavaliers could be interested
The team is ranked as one of the worst in assists per game and now they could set their sights on Dragic or Jackson. Dragic is being shopped by the Suns and the team is reportedly looking for a first round pick for him. Jackson has been getting shopped since he is set to be a restricted free agent and the Thunder doesn't think they can re-sign him and may not want to. Lopez was mentioned as a target for Miami earlier in the season, but that deal broke down.
Dragic is also a target for the Lakers, as they want to trade for him and then sign him to a long term deal. Dragic can become a free agent this summer and Real GM is reporting that the Lakers and Rockets will chase him. The Lakers reportedly want to offer him a four year deal worth $80 million.
Jackson is a potential option as well, but Miami may not want to give up that much to the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC sees Jackson as a player with potential, so they will want a solid pick to make that move and Miami will likely not meet that price. Reports have the Denver Nuggets as one of the main teams looking at Jackson, while the Knicks reportedly want to target him in free agency next summer.
Cole has experience playing with LeBron James in Miami and with Cleveland looking for some trades to help support Kyrie Irving, Cole could be a target. According to Cleveland.com, Cole is also a target for the Detroit Pistons, as they lost Brandon Jennings to a season ending injury. Cole is being shopped by the Heat, as he is averaging just six points per game and has not been playing as many minutes as last year. The Cavs may look at a deal with Cole, while the Pistons, Lakers and Clippers also could be interested, according to Pro Basketball Talk.
According to Marc Stein at ESPN.com, Cole is the player to watch, as he has not been getting as many minutes with Chalmers and Shabazz Napier ahead of him in the rotation. Chalmers is also potentially an option to move, but Miami likely will push Cole over Chalmers in any deal. SI.com made a list of some names that could get traded and added Chalmers to the list, writing that the team could stick with Cole or Napier over Chalmers.
