Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are playing live for the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday and the match is from Parc des Princes in France and has PSG hosting the first leg starting at 2:45 pm ET on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Soccer 2Go as Jose Mourinho and Diego Costa try and take the early advantage ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea comes in with the lead in the English Premier League and they are looking to lock things up in this league as well. The team has this match before the return in March at Stamford Bridge and they come in after a win in their last match against Everton in EPL play. St. Germain comes in dealing with some injury issues for the first leg and that could tip things towards Chelsea a bit, as Diego Costa will be in the starting lineup moving forward after his suspension and he will be the focus in this matchup.
David Luiz knows both of these teams and he will see the Blues from the home side and now players like Costa and Cesc Fabregas are leading the way for Chelsea. Luiz previously won the Champs League with Chelsea and he knows how good they can be when things are going well. Costa has been out for three games while dealing with a ban for a play against Liverpool and it comes at a good time for Chelsea.
Costa has the scoring touch for Chelsea this year, as he has 17 goals in 19 Premier League matches and he has been the main spark for the team. Last year these two teams faced off and Chelsea won in the quarters stage and they had lost the first leg match in that series. Mourinho said that he knows PSG will be ready despite the injuries and that he is glad to have Costa back.
Chelsea has been on a strong run and they are leading the Premier League, which is where they have been all season. Chelsea is looking to stay on top after what happened last year and they currently have a lead over Manchester City and are mostly secure to lock up a Champions League spot for next year. The team was upset in the FA Cup Fourth round and that adds a bit more to this match for the team and Mourinho is putting Costa in the lineup and it shows that they want to get this one done.
The team lost to Tottenham on New Years and after that they won over Newcastle and then slammed Swansea City on the road. The team drew in a safe result at home against Manchester City to keep things going in the EPL and coming up after the round of 16 match has Burnley coming to Stamford Bridge. The Clues then go away for Leicester City and west Ham before the PSG return match and then the team plays against Southampton and Hull City.
