Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors: Le'Veon Bell Likely Suspended, Ben Roethlisberger Contract Extension Coming Next?

The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely be without Le'Veon Bell for two games to start the 2015 season, as reports have him getting suspended following his DUI charges last summer and this comes as the team is starting to work on a new contract with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers made the playoffs in 2014 after missing out the previous season and they are looking to get back to the postseason in 2015. According to ESPN.com, sources told John Clayton that Bell is likely to get a two game suspension for his DUI arrest from last summer before the season started. That case involved LeGarrette Blount and found Bell as the driver when he was pulled over by police and they smelled marijuana coming from the car.

Bell has been one of the most productive players in football over the past couple years and last season he had a massive year for the Steelers. Bell is the second most important player for the Steelers on offense behind Big Ben and last season he had over 350 touches overall. Bell rushed for 1361 yards and also had 83 receptions for 854 yards out of the backfield while scoring 11 total touchdowns. The team doesn't have much behind Bell and while it will be just two games, the Steelers need to add some depth at running back this offseason.

The team released Blount during the season and Ben Tate is a free agent after they picked him up following his release from the Browns. According to ESPN.com, the Steelers and Roethlisberger have started taking about a new contract, as the quarterback is coming into the final year of his deal. Big Ben previously signed an eight year extension worth over $100 million and now he is in line for another deal. Roethlisberger is just 32 and has been one of the most successful quarterbacks in football.

Roethlisberger has also continued to improve as he gets older, as he put up some of his best career numbers this season. Big Ben set a career high with 4952 passing yards and he tied his best with 32 touchdown passes. Roethlisberger completed 67 percent of his passes for a career high and had fewer than 10 interceptions for the fourth time in his career. General manager Kevin Colbert said the team wants to sign Roethlisberger to a new deal and that he was confident it would get done this offseason.
