The Cleveland Browns may look at trade deals in the offseason at quarterback, as Jay Cutler, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins and Mike Glennon could be available and this comes as the team is interested in Josh McCown, Brian Hoyer and Mark Sanchez on the free agent market, as they are all options to start over Johnny Manziel for the 2015 season.
The Browns are coming into the offseason after a rough 2014 season and moving forward they may look at other starting options over Johnny Manziel. Right now Manziel and Connor Shaw are on the roster and it's highly likely that the team brings in some competition. According to Jeremy Fowler at ESPN.com, the Browns are interested in bringing back Hoyer at the right price, while trades could be explored for Nick Foles, Jay Cutler or Kirk Cousins.
According to Pro Football Talk, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that McCown is a potential target for the Browns and that he has a past relationship with new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo. McCown was released last week by the Buccaneers and he has had interest from the Jets, Bills and Titans on the market. The Buccaneers also may look at a Mike Glennon trade and that could be another option for the Browns. The team has the most draft picks of anyone in the league and they could likely pull off a trade for Foles or Glennon without breaking the bank with those picks.
The Browns are looking to improve in 2015 after finishing the season with five straight losses and they are also looking for Johnny Manziel to bounce back. Owner Jimmy Haslam has said that Manziel still has the potential to be a starter in the NFL, but after entering into rehab, that likely will not be happening this season. The Browns also have Josh Gordon suspended and they will be looking to overhaul things on offense. The team is looking to improve at quarterback and with Gordon out, they also could look at free agent targets on the market, as Jeremy Maclin, Randall Cobb and Dez Bryant are set to hit the market.
Two years ago the team proposed a trade with Josh Gordon for Nick Foles that the Eagles turned down, while Cousins was also a target. ESPN.com reported last year that the Browns made an offer to the Redskins for Cousins with a draft pick as compensation, but that was turned down. While all that doesn't mean that the Browns will look at the deals now, they have shown interested in the past and could pick up on that. Foles has come in trade rumors this offseason, as the Eagles reportedly are interested in moving up to draft Marcus Mariota.
Foles is reportedly a target for the Rams and teams like the Jets, Texans and Titans also could be interested in trading for him. Cutler is a tougher option, as he has a massive contract, but the Browns are one team that has enough cap space to absorb his contract. Cutler was benched in Week 16 last season for Jimmy Clausen and while the Bears are not guaranteed to trade Cutler, they could consider a deal this offseason.
