Novak Djokovic will soon be in action at the 2012 Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series. He will take on Nikolay Davydenko of the Russian Federation. The match kicksoff at 1 p.m. ET.
Though losing in the semifinals of the 2012 London Olympics, Djokovic has bounced back and won the Rogers Cup over the past weekend.
Djokovic got the bronze medal at the Olympics in London, then won the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Sunday night. He was a little off in his opening set as the temperature gave him a lot of trouble. He eventually got the win as he defeated Andreas Seppi of Italy in two straight sets 7-6 (4), 6-2 to advanced into the third round of the tournament.
Davydenko defeated German Florian Meyer in two straight sets 6-3,6-3. Davydenko comes into the tournament ranked 50th in the world. HIs highest seed ever was 3rd place back in 2005-2006. He has an 11-14 record in 2012.
He defeated 13th ranked Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine in two straight sets 6-1,6-1.
Though playing well so far in the Open's Series, Davydenko's roll might come to an end as he faces the second ranked player Djokovic on Thursday afternoon.
