Aug 19, 2012 03:23 AM EDT

The English Premiere League 2011 champions, Manchester City, or Man City, will get ready to take the field for the first time since their dramatic come from behind victory that landed them the trophy. The will play their first match of the 2012-2013 season on Sunday as they will take on Southampton.

Man City had a dominant 2011 campaign which capped off in dramatic fashion as they defeated Queen Park Rangers to be crowned as Barclay's champion. But this is a new season.

A fresh start for everybody.

Manchester City's matchup against Southampton will come as the second part of a double-header.

Wigan will face Chelsea first at 8:30 a.m. ET/1:30 p.m. GMT. This match could be seen live on FOX Sports.

Chelsea finished last season with a 17-10-8 record tallying up 61 points, which was good (or bad) enough for sixth place in the standings. The Wigan Athletics were almost the complete opposite as they wrapped up a 9-10-17 2011 campaign that saw them land in 16th place.

Man City will follow this match at 11:30 a.m. ET/4:30 p.m. GMT. It will also be appearing on FOX Sports.

The Citizens finished 2011 with a 26-5-5 record and a total of 83, which had them tied with Manchester United.

Southampton did not play in the league last season. They were promoted to play with the big boys in this new season and will immediately face a tough challenger.

Do not miss the action as the 2012-2013 season openers continue.
