The Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns are playing live on the NBA schedule on Thursday night and the matchup on TNT is part of the doubleheader and has OKC visiting the US Airways Center and the new look Suns after both teams made trades and they are battling for the playoffs and this matchup will start up past 10:30 pm ET.
The Thunder come into the game after a win against the Pacers and they will next play against the Portland Trail Blazers on the road. The team is chasing the playoffs and they are second in the northwest and they are 32-25 this season. The Thunder are averaging 101 points per game and they have Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook looking to lead the team to the postseason.
Oklahoma City is coming in ranked first overall in rebounds per game and they are ranked 11th in points allowed. Serge Ibaka comes in after scoring 23 points against the Pacers, while Russell Westbrook led with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Westbrook is leading the team in scoring and now the Thunder take on the Suns. Phoenix just traded Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas and they come in after a win against the Denver Nuggets on the road.
The Suns come in at 30-28 on the season and they will next play against the San Antonio Spurs and that will be at home. Phoenix is ranked third in the NBA in scoring and they are 28th in points allowed and they are looking to shape things up on that end of the court. Brandon Knight comes in as the main piece the team acquired at the deadline and he joins Eric Bledsoe in the backcourt. Alex Len comes in after leading the team with 10 rebounds, while Bledsoe had six assists and Knight had 19 points.
Westbrook is leading the Thunder in scoring, while Knight is now the top scorer for the Suns. Durant is dealing with a foot injury, while Westbrook has been stepping up with him out. The Thunder have won eight games and have only lost one of the last 10 and that has put them in position for the playoffs. The team got off to a rough start this year with Durant and Westbrook injured and now they try and finish off the year with a strong run. OKC is scoring over 110 points per game during this streak and the Thunder have also gotten some good play from Enes Kanter, who was acquired at the trade deadline.
