Chelsea Wins League Cup Over Tottenham, Blues Favorites For Premier League Title

Chelsea won the League Cup on Sunday with a victory against Tottenham in the Capital One Cup final from Wembley Stadium and now manager Jose Mourinho is looking to add another trophy, as the Blues are the favorites to win the English Premier League title, as they have been leading the table all season.

Chelsea won the match 2-0 at Wembley to give Mourinho his first trophy since coming back to Stamford Bridge and this is his first title since 2012. Mourinho won that in La Liga and this gives Chelsea their first title since the Europa League final that they won in 2013 and now they are looking strong heading into the back stretch of the EPL season.

Chelsea got good work from John Terry and Diego Costa to get the trophy and that was fitting considering their significant to the team this year. The team last won the League Cup during the 2006-07 run and they haven't won the Premier League since the year before that. The Spurs put up a fight, but they couldn't get anything going and this came after Tottenham won against Chelsea on New Years Day.

Chelsea won the match despite having Nemanja Matic out and now they have to get back into Premier League and Champions League play. Chelsea has a lead on the EPL table and playing in this match allowed the team to sit back and Man City to lose against Liverpool, giving them a five point lead with one game in hand now.

Mourinho won his 21st trophy with the victory and he is hoping this is just the start for the team this season. Mourinho had his first run at Chelsea end in 2007 before coming back two years ago and his first title back then was the League Cup as well. Chelsea won the Premier League that season after taking the League Cup and the team is in position to repeat that feat for Mourinho.
