The NY Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies are playing on the Grapefruit League Spring training schedule on Wednesday and the game is from at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa as the teams prepare for the season and live coverage will be on MLB.com from the MLB.TV website for their special presentation of preseason games and this will also mark the return of Alex Rodriguez for the Yanks.
The Yankees and Phillies played a nine inning tie on Tuesday and it saw the teams both hit the ball a bit, combining for 10 runs and 21 hits. The Yankees are coming into the season with a number of question marks, including in the pitching rotation and who can fill the leadership void with Derek Jeter gone. The Yankees will also see the return of Alex Rodriguez to the field and that should be the main story for the reporters after the game.
The Yankees signed Andrew Miller in the offseason and they are hoping that Masahiro Tanaka can come back after dealing with an elbow injury. Ryan Howard had two hits for the Phillies in the game to give him a good start, as he likely will deal with trade rumors once again this season. Howard struggled overall last season while hitting 23 home runs and he will be looking for a comeback, just like Rodriguez.
The Yankees signed Chase Headley in the offseason and they expect him to be the starting third baseman for the team. Rodriguez is going to play some DH and he also could get work at first base, which is why Joe Girardi had him working there in spring training. The Yankees won 84 games last season and missed the playoffs for the second straight year in a row.
