New York Jets News: When Can We Expect To See The Jets Improved Offense? (Commentary)

Aug 22, 2012 10:40 AM EDT

Though preseason games don't matter much, the New York Jets aren't looking to impressive as they can't run, can't pass, can't provide quarterback protection and can't reach the end zone.

A full slate of organized team activities, minicamp and training camp have produced only three field goals in eight quarters.

To make matters worse, the Jets are the only team yet to score a preseason touchdown.

Confidence may be the issue as this group struggled with former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, and now with him gone they have no one to point the blame on.

Or maybe the Jets are just to Hollywood to care about scoring touchdowns in the preseason, they always seem to find some way to become the talk of the league anyhow.

For example when they acquired Tim Tebow, which sparked a ridiculous quarterback controversy between Tebow and starting QB Mark Sanchez.

The battle has since fizzled with Sanchez going 13-of-17 for 80 yards, with one pick-six and five sacks. Tebow is 9-of-22 for 96 yards, one interception and four sacks. The Jets' offense this preseason is best measured in inches, not yards.

Neither has shown much but that may be the fault a poor communication on the field.

The Jets have put a big red target on their backs and have yet to show something this preseason. What happened to Sanchez emerging as one of the top 10 QB's? Are we going to see that now or do we have to wait until the pressure is on and the Jets are scratching and crawling to get into the playoffs?

I know it's only the preseason but the Jets have to put up or shut up. They need to get their act together now and not later.

There are so many issues with personnel and execution that you wonder if the Jets can fix their offense in time for their Week 1 showdown in the AFC East against the Buffalo Bills.

They need to avoid putting their foots in their mouths with the media by making predictions and just let their game do the talking. As of right now the Jets are looking like their all talk with no action, and haven't we had three years of this already?

Enough is enough.
