The Memphis Grizzlies have struggled recently on offense against a tough Western Conference and the Boston Celtics are hoping to take advantage of it. Currently battling the New Orleans Pelicans for the final spot in the Eastern Conference playoff standings the Celtics faceoff against former teammate Jeff Green as the Memphis Grizzlies come to TD Garden.
The Grizzlies are starting to come around on offense as their defense keeps them at the top of their division. Memphis was averaging just 92.6 points on 27.3 percent shooting from long range over their last 14 games while failing to score at least 100 points in eight straight games. However, they are turning things around, getting to 100 in three of their last six games while shooting 50.0 percent in those matchups. Prior to the slump, Memphis was averaging 101.3 points on 34.6 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
The Grizzlies currently have a two-game lead over the Houston Rockets in their division, something they aim to maintain. Getting players to bounce back offensively will be the key to maintaining that. Players like Mike Conley have improved from shooting 38.0 percent over the last 11 games but improved against the Bulls. That is paired with the better place of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol who had 23 points in the Grizzlies' last win.
The team hopes to maintain that has they have Green who has help the team be 19-7 since the trade from Boston. The Celtics are hoping to be the better team as they sit two games behind Charlotte for the playoff spot. The end of the season will not be easy for the Celtics as injuries have hit hard. Jared Sullinger is out for the season with a broken foot. Avery Bradley has been out with an elbow injury. Not the mention the team has five sets of back-to-back games in their final 20 of the year.
Isaiah Thomas continues to lead the team since coming over from the Phoenix Suns. The point guard is averaging 21.4 points in 10 games with the Celtics. They are 6-4 when the point guard averaging a strong fourth quarter.
