Sacramento Kings Rumors 2012: Move to Virginia Beach on the Works?

Aug 23, 2012 05:05 PM EDT

The Sacramento Kings' owners, the Maloof family and Comcast Spectator will be meeting next Tuesday in Virginia Beach as both sides will discuss building and leasing an arena in the city as the team attempts to move out of California.

The Maloof family was working with the city of Sacramento on a new arena worth $391 million, but plans fell through right before the beginning of the summer.

Comcast, a media giant, owns NBC and Global Spectrum. They can provide the Maloof family with a 25-year lease on a new place to play. Also pushing for the deal is Live Nation, Jay-Z is signed under company, and it is famous for promoting concerts all over the country.

Mayor Will Sessoms is interested especially because these companies, Comcast, Live Nation and Global Spectrum, promised professional teams in the city.

The Maloof family sounds like they are highly interested in moving to Virginia, or at least, really looking forward to getting out of Sacramento.

"You can't do a deal with somebody you don't trust," George Maloof Jr. said, according to The Sacramento Bee. "I don't trust him."

Him, begin Sacramento Mayor, Kevin Johnson, who the Maloof family has expressed not wishing to work with no more.

For the Kings, it would be a great new start. They are no longer the Kings who challenged and nearly defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 2000's. They can take their new city and fresh talent to a city willing to work with the franchise and dying for professional teams.
