The New York Knicks and guard Baron Davis have reached an accord that will allow the veteran to stick around the team for the 2012-2013 season.
It is not really like both sides reached a contract agreement where money is involved and Davis will likely not be visible on the Knicks' bench, but he will play a role behind the curtains as a mentor for the younger guys around, said his agent Todd Ramasar.
According to Ramasar, Davis was ecstatic about the idea of hanging around the Knicks.
Davis is still recovering from the right knee injury he suffered during the Miami Heat in the playoffs. He has a knee brace and the Knicks have allowed him to do physical therapy with the team's staff.
"From what I'm observing, a lot of his therapy is just coming from walking and strengthening that leg again, and kind of adding some of those muscles that might have atrophied from the time down. He's starting to get those muscles to fire again," said the point guard's agent.
Ramasar also pointed out that a return of Davis to the NBA should not be ruled out as the former All-Star continues to recover. For now, however, the guard will continue to recover and continues to be busy off the court.
He has been caught up working with Verso Entertainment and 5 Ballons Interactive, which is his own company for mobile games. He has been active with the L.A. community as well.
Now the Knicks can say they have two veterans they can learn from as the team has also added Jason Kidd.
