Swansea continued their goal-scoring run with a convincing 3-0 victory over a poor West Ham United side in the early kickoff of the English Premier League.
Michu, who looks like he could be the signing of the season already, notched another goal, to go along with the brace he scored in his side's opening game, as Michael Laudrup's side put in another dominating performance.
Angel Rangel opened the scoring for the Welsh club. Jonathan de Guzman, another one of Laudrup's summer signings, played a nice through ball to Rangel, whose driven shot across the goal was helped into the back of the net by Hammers goalkeeper Jussi Jaskelainen, giving the Swans the lead after 20 minutes.
Another defensive mistake from West Ham paved way for the second goal. James Collins, who moved from Aston Villa in the summer, under no real pressure, played a poor backpass, and the alert Michu needed no second invitation, toe-poking the ball past Jaskelainen to make it 2-0 in the 29th minute.
West Ham, who started the game with Matt Jarvis after the winger made his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers Friday, hardly threatened the Swansea backline in the first half, with Jarvis having the best chance of the game when his half-volley was saved brilliantly by Michel Vorm.
The second period saw Sam Allardyce bring on striker Ricardo Vaz Te for defender James Tomkins. However, it was Swansea again that threatened, Danny Graham forcing a nice save from Jaskelainen with a curling effort. Graham then should have put the game to bed, but missed the target after being put through on goal.
However, the striker made up for the miss, with the third goal, getting on the end of a nice cross from Wayne Routledge to make it 3-0 and end any hopes of a West Ham comeback.
Modigo Maiga came on for West Ham after the hour mark, but only a couple of speculative efforts followed from a desperate London side, with Swansea coasting their way to their first home win, and with it going to the top of the English Premier League table, having scored eight goals in two games.
Meanwhile, Sunderland's home game against Reading at the Stadium of Light was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
"Torrential rain across Wearside overnight and throughout Saturday in the build-up to the game led to an inspection from match officials," Sunderland said in a statement.
"Despite attempts from club staff and the officials to get the game to go ahead, the postponement was announced by referee Neil Swarbrick after thorough checks on the Stadium of Light pitch."
