UFC star Ronda Rousey has set the date for her female bantamweight title defense and it will be against Bethe Correia in Rio de Janeiro, meaning the American star will travel to Correia's home country of Brazil on August 1 to try and keep her championship.
According to ESPN.com, the undefeated Rousey set the date soon after beating Cat Zingano at UFC 184 in February, which improved her record to 11-0. UFC president Dana White announced the news about the fight last week and it will be at HSBC Arena in Rio and will be a 135-pound title fight following the quick win for Rousey against Zingano.
The report says that the event will be for UFC 190 and will be the first time that Rousey has a fight outside of North America. Correia is 9-0 and Rousey comes in after winning her fifth title defense against Zingano, which came in a quick 14-second submission after it started, a record for a title fight. Correia has gone 3-0 in UFC fights and in her last fight at UFC 177 she won in a second round TKO.
"I would definitely say this is a personal fight," Rousey said. "My dad used to have a great saying about when somebody needed to be shown what's up. He said, 'This person needs to have a come-to-Jesus moment.' Bethe is going to have her own come-to-Jesus moment in Brazil."
