Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Nina Bratchikova of Russia in two straight sets 6-1, 6-1 at the 2012 U.S. Open. It was a match that looked tougher live than it did on the scoreboard.
Radwanska played fearless tennis as she ran up to the net when she had to, but also tried a few different things throughout the match that helped her and sometimes worked against her.
She tried hitting drop shots against the wind, which obviously failed, but nonetheless the Polish player advanced to the second round at the U.S Open.
Radwanska, who is ranked No. 2 in Women's Singles, had a tough time putting away Bratchikova in the first third game of the first set. Bratchikova committed a flurry of unforced errors, which did not help her own cause.
In the first set, Bratchikova committed 17 errors compared to only three from Radwanska.
Bratchikova put all of this behind her after she lost the first set and took the first game of the second set, but Radwanska went on to win the next six games to advance to the second round.
