The always animated Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will take the court for the first time at the 2012 U.S. Open. He will face Slovakian, Karol Beck, in the first round of the tournament.
Tsonga has been on a bit of a role as he continues to gain more and more recognition and respect from fans and his competitors.
So far in the season, Tsonga has been to the quarterfinals at the French Open and followed up with an appearance at the semifinals of Wimbledon.
He comes into the tournament ranked fifth amongst the men. Similar to Murray, Tsonga is also chasing after his first Grand Slam title.
In the U.S. Open, Tsonga has not had his share of luck, but last year he was a quarterfinalist. He missed the 2010 season and prior to that was bounced in the third round in back-to-back years and then in 2009 made a fourth-round exit.
No offense to Beck, but it should be an easy one for Tsonga simply looking at the numbers. Beck, who has eight years playing professional tennis, has not made it out of the first round in the previous three Grand Slam tourneys he participated in.
Tsonga is aggressive and should have no issues advancing into the second round.
