We already have two semifinalists in the 2012 Women's World Cup, Nigeria and Japan advanced on Thursday and now they will await their opponents. USA and Korea DPR will face off and the powerhouse of the tournament, Germany, will go against Norway.
The first match of the day, on Friday, will be between Germany and Norway. They hit the field at 4 p.m. JST/ 3 a.m. ET.
During the group stage, Germany who played in Group D, finished 3-0. They beat the USA, China and Ghana in their three matches.
They will rely on their scorer Lena Lotzen to provide the offense as she scored three goals in the first round of the World Cup.
More important than offense is Germany's defense who did not give up a goal in their three matches.
If Germany is the favorite in the tournament, then Korea DPR will give them a run for their money.
Korea scored 15 goals in their three matches scored more goals than any other team in the first round. Nine of these goals, however, came in one match against Argentina.
Korea has only three players who have scored goals, Kim Su Gyong and Yun Hyon Hi have four each. Meanwhile Kim Un Hwa has seven goals.
The U.S. might want to stop these three players.
USA was 1-1-1 in their matches and they will face Korea at 7:30 p.m. JST/6:30 a.m. ET.
Norway, who is Germany's opponent was 2-0-1 in their first three games.
