Tottenham Hotspur, under Andre Villas-Boas, flattered to deceive yet again, while West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion picked up impressive victories on a goal-filled Saturday.
Wigan Athletic and Stoke City played out a 2-2 draw, with the match between Swansea City and Sunderland finishing with the same score.
Spurs had their best opportunity yet to pick up their first victory of the season against Norwich Coty at White Hart Lane, but after going into the lead, they let it slip with five minutes to go, to hand Norwich a deserved point.
In a match where neither team took complete control -- Spurs should have been expected to dominate the match, but Norwich were very much up to the task. In fact, if anything, they were the slightly better side in the first half, creating the better chances, and but for a couple of brilliant saves from Brad Friedel, it would have been the away side that went into the first half with a lead.
After a goalless first half, Spurs took the lead thanks to their new signing Moussa Dembele, who came on in the second half, in the 68th minute. The classy playmaker received a pass from left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto, turned Jonny Howson around, to take the ball into his favorite left foot, before firing the ball into the bottom corner, leaving goalkeeper John Ruddy with no chance to make a save.
However, just when it looked like the White Hart Lane faithful were going to enjoy their first three point of the new campaign, Robert Snodgrass equalized with an equally good left-footed strike from just outside the box. The goal was nothing more than what Norwich deserved after a commendable performance away from home. Villas-Boas, meanwhile, will have to go back to the drawing board yet again, as the Portuguese tries to silence his doubters.
Wigan and Stoke played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, in a game, which had two penalties, one each to either side. Shaun Maloney opened the scoring from the spot for Wigan, after James McCarthy's shot struck Robert Huth's hand inside the penalty box. Stoke, however, equalised soon after when they received a spot-kick, which Jon Walters converted in the 40th minute.
Franco Di Santo gave Wigan the lead yet again, four minutes into the second half, before Peter Crouch equalised for Stoke in the 76th minute, to give his side their third-straight draw.
Michu's fourth goal in three games gave Swansea a 2-2 draw over Sunderland, while Everton surprisingly went down to West Brom 2-0, thanks to goals from Shane Long and Gareth McAuley.
In the early game, West Ham eased past Fulham 3-0, with new signing Andy Carroll setting up two of his side's goals.
Kevin Nolan kicked off the scoring in the first minute, before further first half goals from Winston Reid and Matt Taylor gave the Hammers an impressive victory.
