The U.S. and Nigeria are getting ready to play in the semifinals at the Women's U20 World Cup in Japan. The action kicks of at 3 a.m. ET/4 p.m. JST.
Not taking anything away from the USA, but Nigeria comes into the match as a favorite to win. They have dominated all throughout the tournament, have never lost a game and have one all their matches convincingly.
They have Francisca Ordega leading the way on offense as she still leads the team with four goals scored in the 2012 World Cup. However, it was not a goal from her for that heroically sent Nigeria into the semifinals it was Desire Oparanozie in extra time who completed the feat. It was her second goal of the tournament.
It came in minute 109 in the quarterfinals against a great opponent in Mexico.
For the USA, they will have to rely on the legs of Maya Hayes, who has scored more than half of the team's goals with four. The entire U.S. team has six.
The Americans will need a lot of fire power as Nigeria has been one of the top defending squads in the tournament. They only allowed one goal to Brazil and nothing else since then.
The U.S. is also the underdog because they lack offensive production.
