Miami Dolphins News and Rumors: Wes Welker, Greg Jennings, Michael Crabtree Free Agent Options With Breshad Perriman Draft Target?

The Miami Dolphins are meeting with free agent Wes Welker this week and he is a target along with Greg Jennings, Hakeem Nicks, Michael Crabtree and Reggie Wayne in free agency and this comes as the Dolphins may target a wide receiver in the draft like Breshad Perriman, Philip Dorsett, Dorial Green-Beckham or Justin Hardy.

According to Pro Football Talk, Welker is visiting with the team on Wednesday and it comes after the Dolphins met with both Michael Crabtree and Greg Jennings this offseason. Welker has not had much attention on the market and he previously was with the Dolphins to start his NFL career. The Miami Herald reported that Jennings left town without a contract, but that the two sides are open to talking again soon.

Crabtree visited with the team last week and he reportedly is looking for a deal that is too pricey for the Dolphins. According to Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins were offering Crabtree about $2 million for a contract, but reports have him wanting over $4 million for this year. The Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers have also shown interest in Crabtree.

The team also may look at wideouts in the draft and if they miss out on DeVante Parker or Kevin White, names like Breshad Perriman, Philip Dorsett and Justin hardy could be options. Perriman and Dorsett have put up some strong 40-time numbers and they could be explosive options for the Dolphins at the WR position. Welker had a down season in 2014 with just 49 catches for 464 yards while playing in 14 games, but in the past he has been productive.

The Dolphins have reshaped their roster this offseason and the wide receiver position could use some depth after the trade of Wallace. The Dolphins also released Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson this offseason and while Jarvis Landry is coming back after a strong rookie season, Tannehill needs more weapons. The Dolphins traded for Kenny Stills and they also have Rishard Matthews, but adding a veteran or two wouldn't be the worst idea for depth.

The Dolphins have the number 14 pick in the first round and with Parker also a target for the Bears and Browns, who pick 12th, there is a chance he could be gone. Gurley is a potential option, but that might be too high for him coming off of an injury. Perriman is an intriguing option, as he put up a great 40-time and is quickly moving up draft boards. Perriman played at UCF last season and he is one of the fastest receivers in the draft this year. Last season Perriman had over 1000 yards with 50 receptions for the Knights and he has shown a big play ability while in college, making 16 touchdown receptions in 39 games at Central Florida.
